From out of left-field (Port Orchard, Wa., actually) comes this bittersweet marriage of rock 'n' roll and the national pasttime, a fun concept album about the career of a big-league pitcher from his days as a "High School Phenom" to his "Last Stand in Japan." Moritz spices each track with all the right baseball jargon and no-frills rock 'n' roll. "Welcome to the Show" matches John Fogerty's "Centerfield" for opening-day spirit. Best line: "there ain't no sound I dread like that/ when a good pitch meets a better bat."
